In Greene County district court Jason M. Pirie, 41, of Callender was sentenced July 5 to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of gambling- avoid setoff, amended from gambling- avoid setoff habitual offender. The prison term is consecutive to a term in a magistrate case. Pirie was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge; both were suspended. A charge of fraudulent practice- second degree was dismissed. The court found him unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Audrie Leiann Lawrence, 23, of Jefferson was sentenced to 365 days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- second offense. The jail sentence was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must complete a substance abuse evaluation and abide by all recommendations. She was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. She must also pay $300 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. A separate case in which Lawrence was charged with theft- fourth degree against older individual, identity theft less than $1,500 and unauthorized use of credit card less than $1,500 was dismissed, with $100 court costs. Andy Alexis Ortiz, 26, of Ankeny was sentenced to 180 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of false report of indictable offense to public entity. The jail term was suspended and he was placed on probation for one year to the Greene County sheriff. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty to charges as follows: Bradlee Gene Beadle, 52, of Jefferson, theft- fourth degree; Alexis Hannah Free, 28, of Bayard, burglary- third degree motor vehicle; Joseph J. Ratliff, 41, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana; Gerson Abraham Serrano Gomez, 19, of Jefferson, operating while intoxicated; Joseph Allen Gilpin, 40, of Monroe, OWI- third offense and driving while license barred; and Robert Charles Harvilicz, 43, of Jefferson, driving while license revoked. A trial dates was set for Aug. 22 for Ratliff; for Sept. 19 for Beadle; and for Sept. 26 for Free, Serrano Gomez, Gilpin and Harvilicz.
